Footprints in the snow

We leave footprints in our wake
And memories in our passing
In dreams that we create and hope will be everlasting
Flights of fantasy
Flights of love
Our souls arise in plains above
To the heavens to nirvana
To a place forever after.

Where dreams and plans of future lives are to be created
The enlightenment anticipated
by those who are awaken
In a new life if not forsaken.
For the misguided lure of greed
Or the material things we see.

We will then be ascending
To a new world close to dharma
Transcending new dimensions moving to the elusive shambala

For a lifetime ever after living in harmony and bliss
Where the enlightened there do dwell far from the abyss
From all the suffering and pain endured in our life
It can be like this.

For the sake of being conscious and lacking kindness and compassion
We find our lives so empty due to the dreams that we have fashioned.
Around the needs drawn up by ego
Which we never learnt to let go
But if we learnt to live another way
We could soon begin to evolve.

So leaving footprints in our wake
And memories in our passing
We ensure that this life we live is remembered well and everlasting.
