On line love

They met online and started to chat

Both got on well, no doubt about that,

On went the messaging as it does

Both of them felt that they had found love,

So one day they decided it was time to meet

Turns out neither was as they seemed,

Both had portrayed themselves as something else

Creating images and a masquerade built on illusion not on truth,

When they met they saw each other as strangers

That didn’t at all in any way represent,

The person that was on line that they chose to present,

Call it cat fishing, call it lies, call it deception

Both ended up the victims, but I have a suggestion,

Be yourself and not what you want others to think you are,

Then you might find a real true love and that special spark

Stop the filters, stop the games, just be the authentic you,

Then you may not end up like these others heartbroken and subdued,

Because a love not built on honesty and rooted in love

Trust me, it is bound to fail and that can be really tough.
