The challenges of being a visionary in today’s society

What does it take to be a visionary leader in a world of brutal despots, uncaring oligarchs and billionaires who put profit margins over people. Here I will try exploring why it is that they feel that wealth gives people the right to exploit systems and people and try to discover why the visionary spark in those individuals who have the opportunity to achieve power or positions of responsibility decide to divorce themselves from that aspect of their being.

I think as we look deeper we will discover that increasingly more narcissistic individuals driven by need, greed and the desire for attention are more likely to push harder to get into the more power positions where they can control the narrative and the policies and that they are willing and able due to a lack of caring empathy to use hate, division, corruption and cunning to get what they require to satisfy their own ideologies and philosophies.

Delving deeper into the murky waters that these types of individuals swim in does not feel to anyone who has a caring, empathetic side to them like a good place to be and so they avoid it, leaving a clear path for sociopaths, despots and narcissists to flourish in. Visionaries can be very single minded and determined but it’s hard working amongst people who lack morality and ethics, it’s akin to being a prey amongst predators. From a wellbeing point of view it’s a difficult environment to thrive in, without it negatively affecting your own mental health.

The other problems facing visionaries is that those that they are up against as discussed previously are willing to use, exploit and second themselves into any political persuasion that will have them, be it right, left or liberal. These wolves In sheep’s clothing tend to ooze charisma and come across as very amiable, amicable and genuine, with a high plausibility rating. Visionaries can become lost within their presence as people have become far more used to seeing those who use, exploit and oppress them as the norm and see the more visionary types as oddballs and out of touch with today’s society, whilst missing the point that it’s today’s society that has become poisonous, toxic and dysfunctional. Clearly society will not change unless we face up to this fact.

In truth if we want a change within our society, then we need to start looking at the type of people we allow to flourish as leaders, rulers, oligarchs and heads of industries and corporations. We have to demand better from them and from ourselves. We need to embrace individuals who can think outside of present norms, willing to take risks to change our path of environmental and industrial challenges that lie ahead and who are willing to put people before profit margins and see the success and progress of humanity through aligning our mankind and policies with nature more, developing, different farming methods, fishing methods, where rather than exploiting and exhausting demands for overconsumption we cater for need rather than greed. In the same way we need a more sustainable approach to industry and to the corporate approach based on what is good not which is more profitable. Visionaries who have the intellectual empathy to understand this will always choose this path, looking to reduce down wars and conflicts, that hinder humanity’s growth and progress,  in favour of a more harmonious and holistic approach based on looking after everyone’s wellbeing as much as possible. That means educating people to become more understanding and tolerant of others differences , beliefs, faith, genders and sexualities and helping people to see the individual in all of us and not just as groups of people that we can generalise about. A visionary should always be a force for good, looking to be inclusive of all needs and striving for a more fairer and equal society.

What really sets visionaries apart from all else though is their creative, imaginative and greater transcendental way of approaching all problems, challenges and issues and how they inspire those who follow them to greater glories and achievements. This is what our world is crying out for and so desperately needs but the current media ruled by the oligarchs and the current incumbents of governments, corporations and industry are blocking this backed by the full force of the powerful financial banking and investment sector who seems to benefit most from our  present state of confusion of green washing, corporate corruption, power hungry governments seeking fight wars over territories and resources, while all the time aiding and abetting the decline of the planet’s environment, with no thoughts of nurturing it.
