Extinction of the species

Extinction looms for animals

Every single day

And we as humans are the ones

Who treat them all as prey,

But not for food from which to live

But for greed and pleasure and profit,

As sane minded humane beings

We should do our best to stop it.

The ivory trade is costing us

In elephant numbers dearly,

And the need for rhino horn

Ensures that rhinos are paying clearly,

Some species of these animals

have already gone extinct

It won’t be long till the rest are gone

And it leaves an acrid stink

That has lingered for too long.

Bengal tigers, snow leopards

Fruit bats and many more

Endangered species one and all

Their corpses litter the floor.

But it does not stop with animals

That live upon the land,

Mammals in the sea

Are destined to end up in your cans,

And while they’re catching tuna

They’re killing dolphins too,

And whales suffer similar fate

At the end of a harpoon.

All this is done due to money,

All this is done due to greed,

All this is done for pleasure,

Minimal amounts to feed,

An ever growing  population

That is growing beyond control.

As a tesult we over fish the sea

And one day when there is nothing left,

We will then understand you see

The of animal species we’re bereft,

We will have driven all species to extinction

In our lust for material greed

And I will implore each one of you

Not to buy ivory.

Don’t have nothing to do with any products

That come from Endangered species,

For hitting these people in the pockets

Is the only language they speak.

So stand up for all earth’s species

Stand up for what is right

Stand up my friends for all that’s humane

Stand up for animal rights.
