Political times where demonstrating is a crime

We live in heavily political times,

where demonstrating is a crime,

and they can lock you up for wanting to be free.

For having your say and by shouting out loud,

for showing them that you don’t agree.

We live in heavily political times,

where demonstrating is a crime,

and they can lock you up for wanting to be free.

Political prisoners are held all over the world

but many and most, some young boys and girls,

are innocent people who just stood up for truth,

stood up for justice, stood up against you.

We live in heavily political times,

where demonstrating is a crime,

and they can lock you up for wanting to be free.

Anybody should be able to say the things that they want,

because otherwise it’s insane,

anyone should be able to decide to resist,

for something they see as wrong,

without the fear of arrest.

We live in heavily political times,

where demonstrating is a crime,

and they can lock you up for wanting to be free.

Everybody has opinions,

everybody should be able to express them,

nobody should fear being taken in the night,

simply because they stood up for

what they believe is right.

Everybody should be able to hold up placards,

everybody should be free to wear a mask,

without the fear of being arrested and taken away,

in the back of a police car.

We live in heavily political times,

where demonstrating is a crime,

and they can lock you up for wanting to be free.

Then there is the force

and then there is the violence visited down on those,

who choose to make a stand,

who choose to feel that those injustices

should be exposed,

with out the fear of being beaten or being shot,

by a state sponsored soldier or a cop,

who decided you stepped over the line,

or looked to be a threat even not even armed.

We live in heavily political times,

where demonstrating is a crime,

and they can lock you up for wanting to be free.

People stand united and shout out with me,

freedom for the people,

freedom for their rights,

freedom for those fighting for what they think is right,

freedom from violence for those who demonstrate,

or are we all just living in one big police state.
