Hoisted on our own petard

We as humans find it hard,

To understand the rules of the universe 

And it my be the reason we are cursed

And oblivious to our ignorant and arrogant ways,

Which will lead to our destruction as we play,

The role of looking for the missing link,

So focused on technology we forgot to think,

Are we constructing our own demise?

As we lose the real important state

Of being spiritualized,

So busy with war and hate

And reaching for the stars,

Whilst polluting sea and air,

With poisons, chemicals and cars,

So desperate  to habitat new planets,

We neglect the one we are on

And spread poverty, disease and famine,

As a species goes I don’t think we are to bright

And one day our extinction will be our own plight

And the buildings that we leave

Will be our own mausoleums,

Of empty concrete shells,

A testament of a race that dragged it’s self down 

To its own place in hell.
