Locusts

When are we going to realize

That we mess with nature at our peril.

When are we going to understand

That we cannot exploit and rape

The resources of our lands,

Without paying a price, a cost,

That sees all that we have be lost

In an environmental backlash,

As nature reaps it’s revenge

On everything that is represented by humans.

In our arrogance and ignorance

We cannot forsee this,

We believe this earth

Is free to plunder at will

But I think it will be interesting to know,

What the future will hold for a race that lives

Just like the locust,

Our time is at a close end

And I am giving you notice.

Change or perish

The choice is ours

Before it’s too late

And it’s out of our hands.
