Behind the veil

She was pretty in pink

the perfect girl,

she had it all going on

and intelligent as well,

as beautiful as you have ever seen

always happy and always smiling,

benevolent and compassionate in every way

caring and sharing each and every day,

would light up a room when ever she entered

I could go on and the list would be endless.

So how was it we did not see

the urgency and the need,

behind the beauty,

behind the smiles,

how did we not see through the veil.

She was depressed and emotionally stained

and if we took a look further than ourselves,

we may have seen the helpless girl,

that ended up overdosed,

because she lost her dream

and because she could not cope,

the stained cheeks

from where she weeped,

left testament to you and me,

that even though

she seemed so fine,

she still went through harder times

and so need help,

we must take care,

to listen to others

and hear the despair,

so that we can help and ease their pain,

so they do not end up doing the same,

a one way ticket to the grave,

because they did not look behind the veil.
