Replacement

My sleep disturbed by a breath

On the back of my bare neck,

I heard the sound of rattled breathing

And a malovent evil seething.

I felt a cold hand on my shoulder

I tried to be brave and get bolder,

I turned to see this phantoms face

And hoped it would vanish without a trace

But instead it roared and felt the whole room shake.

I tried to move but was paralyzed,

Maybe by fear or supprise

And as I felt the chill of dread

It broke my neck

And then I was dead

And as my spirit left my body

The phantom left me lifeless and cold

And looked at me and said ‘this is now your place’

And then he simply faded away

And I was left to haunt this place,

Like the phantom of whom I had now replaced.
