Cry for mercy

She cried out for mercy

from the demons that beseeched her,

She wished these creatures of the night would just leave her,

These phantoms drifted in and drifted out

Left her mind in fear and self doubt,

she cried out for mercy

And took the short cut out.

She cried out for mercy

and nobody heard

And nobody helped her out,

Though she cried for mercy

and she wept on bended knees

But the demons and the phantoms

Are compassionless and cold,

She cried out for mercy if the truth be told.

And though she tried so hard to hold

on to life and onto hope,

She felt she had nowhere else to go

So she decided to join the spirit fold,

Sad truth is her story has often been told

But nothing ever changes because life is hard this way,

And so many lights go out because no one offers mercy,

To those who feel possessed this way

And who are desperate for mercy.
