I see lives and relationships

Dashed against the walls

Of domesticated expectations

Held by one and all

I see the failing due to materialism

Lusting after greed

Focus on the things that matter not

Instead of what we need

And that’s to understand and be understood

To be heard and listened to

To build a love that is so strong

Based on honesty and truth

But we become distracted by the superfluous stuff

That truly does not matter

We lose ourselves in the illusory

And while our minds are full of clatter

We fail to hear the true voice of our consciousness

Trying to get through

To help us understand that all that glitters is not gold

But that true unconditional love can be found

In the heart and luminescent soul

Which deep within we know.
