I still hope

When I was younger

I had this dream I would never die,

That I would be immortal

And that I have plenty of time

And now I am older now,

My mortality is clear to see

And that time is running out

But that doesn’t scare me,

I still hope to shine my light

I still hope to do some good

I still hope to share the love

I think we all know that we should

And in my darkest hours

I never fear no more

The length of time we have

To make our mark on life

I’d like to make my children proud

I’d like people to be inspired by what I write about

I am just trying to get a message out

I still hope to shine my light

I still hope to do some good

I still hope to share the love

I think we all know that we should

And as my eyes dim

And my energy’s receding

I will echoing

The same words with my final breath

I still hope to shine my light

I still hope to do some good

I still hope to share the love

I think we all know that we should

And as I fade away

I hope I am not misunderstood

I would give everything

To bring about a better world if I could.
