Show some care, spare a thought

If life was not tough enough

As if it were not already a struggle,

It now is set to become much harder

But spare a thought for those lost souls,

Who are to be found under street lights sleeping rough

What help for them is there,

Among all of this social distancing

What underlying health issues they may have

Show some care, spare a thought,

Think of those on the front line

Trying hard to keep society together,

While isolating others are still working

Show some care and spare a thought,

Don’t lean towards the callous belief

That this disease will short the chaff from the wheat,

That it will define and manifest who’s strong and who’s weak,

Show some care for those who struggle

Spare a thought and think on this,

Especially before you go hoarding

We live in a world where there’s enough to go round,

So take only that which you need

Don’t succumb to panic buying and greed,

Show some care, spare a thought

There are lessons in this, that are being taught,

To all of us as a humanity

Let’s learn from this and let’s just see,

The type of character of which we are blessed

Are we kind and caring of rooted in selfishness.
