We breathe through pain

We feel the strain,

And there seems no hope of escape,

The struggles of life

That we go through,

Are so hard for me and you

And it gets harder all the time,

And there’s seldom any sanctuary to find,

For us to go and find protection in

And it’s worse because of the work of societal systems,

That lay us bare and vulnerable to all

Exposing us and leaving us in free fall,

There’s very little help out there for us,

Hard to find in it any kind of love
And when you need to heal,

It’s unforgiving and it makes this life difficult to live in,

So many lies are told to us all

By those who convince us that they rule,

But the truth is they don’t care for me and you

And this is the sad and honest truth,

And the damage that this does is there in open view

And it’s just so unbelievably cruel.
