Upon the state,

Do you live

Or do you live to obey,

As they strip us

Of all our rights,

To make a stand,

Or would backstab us

In the middle of the night,

Are you complaint

And so controlled,

Or are you courageous

And an awakened soul

Who will not take it anymore,

The erosion of our liberties

And our privacy that goes on

In the corridors of power

Are you so downtrodden

And oppressed you cannot

Seem to accept or see it yet

Are you defiant

Or are you reliant

Upon the state,

So absolutely

That you’ve simply given up,

On living life your way.
