Back in the good old days.

Back in the good old days

That’s what they often say,

Those living in the past

Remembering an empire vast,

They like to fly their flags

And speak about the two world wars,

As if it has some meaning

On how we are living today.

Back in the good old days

When we ruled, we were the British Raj,

Oppressing, killing and exploiting

This is not for celebrating,

When we were far more brutal

I’d like to think today we have far more scruples.

Back in the good old days

When we used jumpers as goalposts,

Now they were fun days to remember

We enjoyed the fun and the sun,

And embraced all the people

Who came into our lives,

Without judging them by the colour of their skin

Now that is something to be proud of,

And should be promoted in everyway today

For this is the way an advanced society should behave.
