Perception highlights different views

How other people see things differently from me and you,

And it’s healthy we don’t all think the same

Who decides who’s wrong and right in life’s game,

Perception is something some people lack

So they ride on others backs,

Stifling and oppressing their own ideas and views

Offering no unique insights for me and you,

Yet off the backs of others these people choose

To critique or criticise what others do,

And that’s ok by me really because I choose to live freely,

Outside the realms of offence or being upset

By mere words, mockery or jests,

About my works and whether it’s art

I am just a poetic upstart,

That tries to bring something different and stark

My words offer light from a place that is dark,

Like how music became renewed when punk began to bark,

Screaming out messages crass and what some called obscene

But it opened up more possibilities and dreams,

Opened minds and kicked down doors

Opening up so much more, while seemingly breaking music laws,

Archaic and bland and stifling the art

So don’t be afraid to make your mark,

With your own perceptions never mind what others think

Take your words, poetry and art to the brink,

Shock and awe bring new ways to think

Use this to grow and refuse to shrink,

At others personal thoughts on what you do

Everyone who writes knows it’s important to,

Be authentic, beautiful and always true

To their heart and soul when airing their views,

And I respect and encourage everyone of you

To never give in or give up what you do,

When expressing your perceptions which come from within you.
