Hideaway

The walls of this vast hall

Shines with the rivers of moisture running down them,

The dank floors are slippery beneath my feet

Carved underneath a mountain this hall,

Gives rise to heat and cold

Outside the mountains are covered with pure white snow,

In here the heat from the ground beneath flows,

It’s hard not to perspire here

Though it friendly in the hall there is an undercurrent of fear,

But the smiles from those who live here

Reassures you of the kindness, that much is clear,

People are dressed in long silk and cotton robes

You feel the love where ever you go,

The fear is one of suffocation and of claustrophobia

But the compassion and and the caring, are enough to move you to tears,

After coming from such a cruel world

Where violence, hate and death are held so dear,

This hideaway from all of life

Seems to special, real, and so right,

And when you ascend the long marbles speckled steps

You open the door and what strikes you next,

As you step out onto a balcony you’re perplexed,

To see so much light, bright white, punctuated by mountain peaks

This is the paradise I thought I would seek,

And it’s perfectly clear I found it in my dreams

But I know this landscape is a real, authentic scene,

And my dreams are showing me it exists

And that I must find the path to go and find it.
