We were brought up

Being told not to cheat or lie,

Yet people in politics do it all the time

And they act and treat as though it no nevermind,

You try the same though and you’ll end up doing time,

One rule for them, they’re above it all

Another for us, there is no tolerance from those who rule,

They must laugh at us and think us fools,

Because we know what they do and we let them get away with it

Lie about facts, cheat on their wives and expenses,

They use corruption like a skilled tool

Like it’s a God given right for those who rule,

And yet many vote them as if somehow it’s cool

An ignorant, uneducated view,

That maintains the inequality for me and you

Any debt they cause we payback, that’s true,

They care more for financiers and bankers

Their corporate friends, man they’re such wankers,

Meanwhile, nurses, carers and the other public sector workers

Get consistently as always fuck all,

And you seem to accept this rather than than being appalled,

So I have to imagine a revolution where they’re put up against a wall,

But I would not shoot them I’d just take everything

Leaving them with absolutely fuck all,

And say now get on with it

And if you lie or cheat well come down on it,

Now just fuck off and see how hard it is to live like this,

It’s the only way they’ll ever learn

Take their whole privilege away and make them watch it burn,

But I’ll guess it will never happen no matter how much I yearn.
