Within the depths of night we can miss the light

But when it’s light we can crave the comfort of the night,

Contradictions in living do we ever know what we want

Balance is the only thing in a life of impermanence,

Being present changes everything

It changes what we want into what we need,

Seldom what we want is good for us

Where is what we need improves what must,

Keep us in balance and helps us to survive

And grow into beings that are more likely to evolve,

As what we want comes from a lustful heart

But what we need comes from the root of our soul,

What we want and what we need

Are two very different beasts in the end,

But for some this is a different concept

That goes beyond some people’s ken,

Light and darkness are both our friends

But some fear darkness signifies the end,

Where light manifests as new beginnings

Yet darkness can enable dreaming,

And light can expose our warped meanings,

But balance give our life true reasons

To focus on not what we want but what we need.
