Everyday people

Everyday people, living everyday lives

Going about their business never questioning why

Working for a pittance, treated like a slave

Is that all there is from the cradle to the grave?

They’ll find a comfortable love and start a family

Buy maybe a new car, house and go on holidays

But deep inside of them it’s hollow and empty

Despite live in a country if plenty

Because everyday people do everyday things

Do what they’re told and keep in following

All of the orders and all of the rules

A guest in society and no more than a tool

To be manipulated to exploited and shit

But everyday people never question this one bit

There mind has been dumbed down by media and television

That they’re bombarded with in their pits

Told what is good for them taught what is lit

Taught how to act, what to say, how to think

Everyday people cannot possibly resist this

They do what they’re told for their entire life

Then when they get so old they struggle to get by

And so they end up in a home, where all old people go

And the state will take everything that they’ve ever owned

And their kids and their kids will be scrapping for what’s left

You see everyday people find themselves bereft

Of any understanding from birth until death

Because they put their lives in the hands of those who couldn’t care less,

For them.

  1. 😂😂😂 this is so fucking dark. But pretty accurate, yes. At the end of the day, I tell myself— if they’re happy doing that, then why should I judge? Sure they may be bereft later on, but they seem to be happy enough now 🤷‍♂️.

Some people just don’t fit in the world because they’re so aware of how ridiculous it is. It’s interesting how that happens.
