Little Polly looks so sad

They told her that she is bad,

Once a girl but now a lad

This has devastated dad,

But Polly is the same

She’s a human being,

Gender is just a feeling

So went with her imperative

Decided how she wants to live,

And dad doesn’t need to understand

Just because this was not the plan,

He needs to just stand by her

And accept that she is now a him,

Share the love and don’t you judge

He’s still your child and that’s enough,

I know dad you’ll find it tough

But Polly needs you as time will get rough,

For transistioning is barely accepted

So don’t let Polly be disrespected,

Help Polly to smile again

Even now she’s changed her name,

Neither Polly nor dad should feel ashamed

Neither of you should feel pain,

Love each other always the same

Because neither of you are to blame,

For how you feel, for feelings and emotions are hard to tame,

So accept that you both feel differently

Respect and accept that and you’ll live freely,

Sometimes we don’t have to understand

Or live life by a certain plan believe me.
