Apostates tale

The dawn is breaking over the hillside

His army waits aware what’s awaiting on the other side,

A far bigger army that is more mighty

His Queen sits on her horse by the side of him

He motions for the drum beat to break the silence,

And as the drum beats his army starts moving

King Danik readies himself to take on the apostate,

Even though he understands the other army is great

But they have the heart and are fighting for survival,

They are going to fight for their right to exist

And as they rise up the hill the sun’s rays reach out,

Yet everything other than the drum beat is silent and still

There are very few clouds overhead,

King Danik has spoken of a glorious death

And on such a fine day he could feel the impending bloodshed,

But he and his men and his Queen don’t balk

But everybody who is marching are too focused to talk

Then they reach the top of the hillside and witness the army,

That they will fight and probably will die

And some let tears loose and silently cry,

This may be their time so they want to die with pride,

And into action and into the fight, they charge

At full tilt at real pace horses lead the way,

And king Danik and his Queen lead the ready to slay

And all that can be heard is the clashing iron and roars and cries on this day,

And there will be a victor and loser and many maimed

But king Danik and his Queen knew there was no other way.
