Callousness

Callous words they cut deep

Not just random but on repeat,

Tear at the soul when they reach

It’s an imperfect way to speak,

It lacks empathy and caring

And after a while it gets so wearing,

Builds up annoyance in those it’s aimed at

Resentment then grows deep inside,

I know this I’ve had it in my life

Spoken too as if I don’t matter,

Like somehow I am not worth their time

Do they think that I don’t notice,

Do they think somehow I am blind

Not sure they care and that’s so unkind.
