What happened to common sense

Where people used to address,

Differences with a curious eye

But we decided we should live and let live,

And let others live out their lives,

The way that they saw fit and wanted to

When did it all become so confused,

Where the need to be accepted

Became as important as needing attention,

And where others lacked a tolerant perception,

We are all who we are or what we choose to be

Just get on with it and be fucking happy,

Don’t demand like you’re privileged that we all need to be

Giving you everything that you perceive,

And why do others on the other hand

Not even make an effort to understand,

That if people want to define themselves as the fuck they like

That you should feel angry and a need to divide,

And who says adopting a difference gives us special rights,

Women and the black movement had to fight for this their whole life,

And why in certain quarters do others want to drag

Us back to the dark ages when things were really bad,

With their romantic notions not rooted in fact

The only fact they prove is the intelligence they lack,

We need some common sense to be brought back

Allow people to be different people without getting mad,

Stop editing books to try to make them pc

Stop trying to remake the old series and movies,

Allow people to decide for themselves if it’s offensive or not

Men saying they are women ain’t getting into the female safe spots,

Acceptance that this is normal and unlikely to change

Stops you from getting angry and threatening to kill, injure or maime,

Anybody that speaks out against you

That’s not how life works, and seeing people who are different

Shouldn’t cry when it hurts, your conservative sensibilities, that’s the truth,

And understand are all free, to be who and what the fuck we want to be,

And with common sense brought back in place we’ll achieve a better society.
