Then and now

I grew up in a time and place where people were not greedy,

At a time and place where people were far more needy,

Always money in our pockets but not enough for luxuries,

At that time credit was not accessible to my family or me,

And yet somehow it never bothered us and as such we were happy,

But the world is different now and credit is rife

But the materialism that comes with it has not enhanced my life,

Because there’s not the same sense of community now,

As people crave money, as money is now the holy cow,

I loved those days way back then, more so now, which is stressful and tense.
