She wanted a love song,
He gave a love song,
She wanted passion
But he offered control,
She wanted roses
He gave her dominance,
She wanted loves purity
But what he gave was perverted,
And if she objected,
He gave her intimidation,
She became timid and frightened
As he promised to box both her ears,
So she kept quiet and submissive
The big man was masculine now,
How did love become so twisted
That it hurts her so much now,
He wants the woman of his fantasy
So twists and distorts her now,
So that she’s no longer free to be
The strong woman that she was.
Now she lives in his shadow
I hope soon she rises up,
And leaves him wan pallow
Through the re-exertion of her voice,
And an upsurge of her in power
I look for that day and her finest hour,
No longer to be culled or to be humbled
Either physically or psychologically,
I hope she finds her inner ability
And then cuts loose and sets herself free,
And in the moment that happens
Then everyone will truly see,
The burning light within her
And her real radiance and beauty,
That he tried to tell her she did not possess
But that was just to cover up, his abject insecurities,
That stemmed from the truth that he always knew
The power she could wield if he let her be free,
Was more wild, arcane and bigger than he
And this was the ultimate truth.
