I drown under the weight of expectation
And yet despite all of my dedication,
I have found out this life doesn’t reward those
Who put the work in and try with purpose,
To be the best in their field, to be the most skilled
Only to see others rise above them and prosper,
In spite of the fact they are lacking what is needed
Jobs for the boys and connections i still believe is,
The essential trait and requirement to get on
And call me gullible and foolish but it’s so wrong.
