I refuse to be led

And I try to be well read,

I do try to think for myself

Because what’s the other option,

Just waste my breath

Chatting on inanely with nothing I say,

Reading keeps your mind sharp

And lots of writing does the same,

And your thinking must be critical

As to should be your words in every way,

Even if in a vacuum recite your verse

For keeping your mind sharp does not hurt,

And maintaining your focused mind

Will pay off in the end, given the appropriate time,

Just keep your eyes open and read the signs.
