Depression

Something dark sets in some minds

And hinders them from time to time,

They fall down a long dark hole

Of a depression that consumes them whole,

And it’s so difficult to try and relate

It’s a unique experience and desperate state,

They find, it chips and eat’s them away

And it’s difficult to help, to know what to do or say,

If you’re on the outside looking in

Because the slightest wrong word or gesture can be triggering,

It’s an underserved curse visited on undeserved people

And depression is not given the sort of attention,

That other illnesses often do,

Which is why I empathize through and through.
