She sat alone in her gilded cage,
exquisite in body
beautiful in face,
a mind so intelligent
and such quick wit,
who would trap her in a cage like this.
She thought he loved her,
thought she was sure,
be he just wanted to possess and own her whole,
did not want others to taste her flavour,
succulent and delicious which many men favour.
She sits alone dreaming of freedom,
sit alone hoping that one day
she spread her wings and fly freely again,
but in this moment that thought seemed insane.
He visited her from time to time,
no real reason and no real rhyme,
just to check on her in her gilded cage,
to ensure she was still there and had not flown away.
What a waste of such beauty refined,
what a waste of her amazing mind,
that she should end up as just an adornment,
a treasure to locked up and to hard to find,
by others who would appreciate her grace,
and allow her to be free each and every day,
secure in that fact she will always come back,
for that is called love and it is something he lacked.
