Long blink

He drove home

Drifting off,

Long blink,

Swerve in the road,

Lucky escape.

Bit further along,

An ambulance,

A fire engine,

Lucky he thought

It could have been me.

Arrives home

Family in tears,

‘What’s happened?’ he said,

No one replies,

His wife and family

Ignore him.

‘What’s going on’ again he says

This time more demanding.

Still he is ignored.

Then an officer

walks in from the kitchen,

Carrying tea.

‘For the shock’ he says.

‘I am sorry for your husbands death’,

His world falls in spirals

I am dead he thought,

No I am here,

It was just a long blink,

But I am here !

But not for long,

As the light takes him

And then he becomes

Conscious energy.

Spirit.

Gone.

Back to the stars.
