Protest and resist

At certain times in life

We have to make a stand,

We have to protest,

We have to resist,

Failure to do so

Is a failure of self,

To rise to the challenge

To face the test,

To do nothing in the face

Of wrong and oppression,

Is to show weakness

Of character as a human being.

To demonstrate democracy

Truly still exists

Requires of us

To take to the streets.

Power must be tested

Time and again,

Sometimes we have to put

And end to a reign,

Of those abusing power

In the name of corruption

And this should then cause

A vocal and activist eruption.

The government is meant to

Be servants of the people,

Not the people forced into serfdom

And oppressed pushed

Down on their knees,

Feeding from scraps

As in the trickle down theory,

Kick down the door

And demand your fair share.

For as people we have to remind them

We have the power

And teach them that we have the ability,

To make them all cower

In fear of the will of the people,

So shout this out

From the tops of buildings,

And steeples.
