What age is it OK to be able to consent,

Seems it depends who’s side you represent,

I am supporter and the protector of the child,

Eighteen years old what’s wrong with this,

I know when I was younger I was stupid and messed, up running wild

And making decisions, critical to life,

Is something I could not do with wisdom I  hindsight.

Why are we forcing children grow up,

Faster than they should and make them make these decision,

Some may call me old fashion and hit may me with derision

But with age I think I have learnt the truth,

That it is vital to protect the youth,

From older more unscrupulous people,

Who will exploit and abuse them when they can

But most of all I know it’s vital to protect them from themselves

And their uninformed decisions.

Protect the youth,

Let kids be kids,

Protect them from these people who we all know exist,

Protect them from harm,

Stop pressurising them to grow up to quick,

And make adult decisions

Without the experience to go with it.
