Dirty coal

For centuries they’ve delved deep,

Down in the dirty mines to find coal,

Ebony gold that was the glory of the industry,

Claimed so many lives

As they delved so deep.

The dirty coal they dug out the ground,

Fuelled the dirty industries

And now as progress is made,

The future has to be green,

No more collieries, no more slag,

No more black smoke and no more smog

And no looking back,

The days of the mines have gone.

Now some may want to bring them back,

People that never worked and spent life black,

Covered in coal suffering all kinds of ills,

There is no going back.

History shows it as a glorious life

But it wasn’t for those down the mines,

Risking their life and risking their health,

To generate the rich man’s wealth.

No coal no more,

The future has to be green,

No coal no more

Let’s get our air clean,

No coal no more

It is obscene and the only one who want it back

Are the corporate dinosaurs,

Who look to squeeze the last profit out,

Do they care for miners life

There is no doubt,

It’s all about the money and the wealth,

They don’t care about miners lives or health.

No coal no more

The future must be green,

No coal no more

Let’s get our air clean.
