Shades of life

The dark shades of my mind

And the shadows of my life combine,

To leave me whirling like a dervish,

In a dance that never stops.

It gives me insights into the black night

And a sense of elemental fright.

But within this whirlpool of my mind

I see my life and how it’s defined,

In a duality of existence,

Pull and pushing yet both resisting,

Help is all we really need

To plant a little seed of light,

To help us glow and to help us grow,

Into something so much stronger

Than we’ve ever been,

As long as we believe,

As long as we breathe,

There will always be a little light and shade,

Within me.
