People are often living only to make money
They think its the only important thing
They believe it’s the only way to get on
And they don’t mind exploiting
Other people, family and friends
To achieve their ends
And of course we all need money
I need to pay my bills and pay me rent
But I will do it without exploitation
Climbing over others to get to the top
And not knowing when or how to stop
Treading on others for a foot up
That’s not how I go about things
If you are good to others on your way up
If you fall one they’ll help you back up
But if you are remembered for being mean
When you fall they will leaving laying there at the scene
Or your failure to maintain your position in life
That you carved out for yourself by not being very nice
It’s a wicked enough world we live in
Without you adding to it your bitterness and spite
We can all be money making
If we all work together without forsaking
Our humanity and our love
Of money see, there is always enough
But it won’t keep you warm at night
You can’t buy health and you can’t buy a happy life
Kid yourself you can
And you’ll only be fooling yourself money man
I wonder one day if you will ever understand.
