The truth about poverty

Ghettos, the projects and council estates

Are created by those who choose to live that way

So is it their own fault? well yes it maybe

But answers are ot always that simple and easy

Lack of opportunity to get a good education

Poor housing that leads to lack of pride and privation

A reliance on crime to keep their heads above water

Poor job opportunities leading to poor pay

So they all end up in a rut that is as much societies shame

Lack of equality means they suffer the poverty pain

That causes bitterness and anger among some

Or they just give up and lose all motivation

Anger leads to violence and different types of crime

Then drugs creep in and they use them to dull the mind

And all the anger and bitterness that their stuation brings

You see it all a complicated thing

And I’ve only just scratched the surface of the skin

But yes if it makes you feel g oid then just blame it all on them

Those who are living in depravation

It’s easy to point gingers and say its all their own fault

Rather than the poverty trap in which they are caught

Yes the could and should do more

Take responsibility more and more

But many are born into this situation of being poor

So tell me now how can you say it’d their fault

And the System and the establishment choose not to open doors

To better education through equal funding in schools

And a greater asccess to more healthy food

Along with investing and improving where they live

It’s a complicated equation and balance that needs to be found

We need real solutions not just words that are hollow and profound.

  1. this is a truly saddening topic as it has come to be a well known fact that instead of investing millions of pounds of tax payers money into mending ongoing issues like this, our governments instead use it to fuel projects that we, as a nation heavily disagree with.
