I could have loved you,
I could have saved you,
But you wouldn’t let me in,
You were still hurting,
From the pain inflicted by somebody else
And though I would have walked through fire,
You always kept me at arms length,
I know I could have loved way more
Than anybody else,
But you wouldn’t let me in
Because you were still hurting,
And I can understand that
But I offered you healing,
But you just kept me at arms length
So when you fell I was unable to help,
Even though I really tried
And as I held you so close,
I was there as you sobbed and you cried,
From all the hurt and pain
Resonating time and again,
Yet I know I could have given you the love you needed,
And I believed I could have saved you
But you just wouldn’t let me in,
Because I understand that you were hurting,
And all I could is watch while you were drowning,
And I was unable to do a thing as you disappeared.
