A woman’s worth

To be seen to live a good life

Women are taught to be a good wife,

Honouring the needs and the wants of men

Told to support and be subjugated to their husband,

A cook in the kitchen a perfect mother to the kids

A whore in the bedroom for her man’s kicks,

Be a good housekeeper oppressed and kept a heel,

Some people see these beliefs as still real,

Women are just there as no more than guests

And as men’s sexual playthings,

Who should be acting out for men all their fantasies,

And if she don’t conform beat her and force her to her knees,

It happens in all countries to varying extremes,

Stoned for being with a man who isn’t their husband

Whipped for being seen as to dress to freely,

Raped by their husband after he drinks too much beer

And beaten into submission and a life of fear,

Killed by jealous men who wanted to own and control them

Women do not exist for the soul pleasure of men,

And women are not the weaker sex or lesser specimens

Of humankind and deserve respect,

As they keep our race going

Women can do so much more than knitting and sowing,

Women are amazing and wise and I hope to see their influence growing,

Because we need better answers than men have ever made,

It could be the only way this earth can be saved.

  4. Interesting. This poem, written from a man’s perspective, appears to do everything to a woman that it complains about.
