You go to work at eight o’clock
And don’t get home til five,
And you just do not see how work dictates your life,
And if you do then you believe that living this way is right,
Because you were programmed to live that way in order to survive,
Working to make others rich while on a minimum wage,
Some are on zero hours which is akin to bring a slave,
Hoping and praying they keep you in work each day
Tell me wheres the joy in life and where’s your fucking rage,
At the thought of being exploited and used this way
To build another’s empire of wealth on your pittance of pay,
Where’s your pride and dignity when many nights and day,
You give them all your blood, sweat and tears,
Yet it’s not enough they say,
You need to work much harder as they cut the workforce back
While driving around in company cars
It’s a selfish, callous, arrogant act,
They tell you after a lifetimes slog and loyalty you have to go
Because these disloyal fuckers have decided, now you’re to old and to slow,
And many companies now replace people with machines,
Or shut down their shops and go online to keep lean
But what happens to the people when replaced by new technology,
When we are all out of work because we can’t work that cheap or efficiently,
Because we are merely humans and not fucking machines,
And with all this added leisure time, what are we going to do,
With no fucking money and relying on food banks for food,
And we’re living off of state hand outs that barely cover the bills
Is there any point when you’ll remain loyal still,
To this system that does not care one jot about me or you,
When is the time you’ll wake up and see this is the obvious fucking truth.
Obviously the truth
