Yesterday’s memories

Yesterday’s memories

Are so poignant now,

Based on what has gone on

Throughout this past year,

Things we took for granted

Did we become to blasé,

Did we believe that governments

Would keep us all safe,

That they’d be organised

And be in control,

And do whatever it needs

To ensure that people,

Are cared for safely

Truth is they made a mess of it,

With no coherent message,

They broke the rules

That they put in place,

It’s hard to imagine

A pandemic could have been handled worse,

I am not being wise after the event

Neither am I being terse,

Their environmental policies

Brought about all this hurt,

All governments who destroy nature

Brought down on us it’s curse,

Yet somehow they still managed

To help their rich friends prosper,

While those who were vulnerable

Were placed in the ground,

Because of dirty, polluting, destructing policies

That these heartless fuckers expound.

Powerful poem expressing all of our frustration. They did botch the whole thing up and are still doing it.
