Walking down the street
In the late hours of the night,
The Cosmopolitan monster
Is asleep and out of sight,
The cars are now resting
And only the odd neon light is on,
I pass by the homeless people
Who dream dreams I am sure others don’t,
I look at the moon, and gaze at all the stars
And I realise, how insignificant we are,
And yet we can shine like them if we try
I dream of being amongst them one day,
Playing games in the Milky Way,
Then I feel the pavement beneath my feet
And the steam from the grates enfolding me,
In it’s mist and in its heat
Which reminds me, I am still on the streets,
Wandering aimlessly
In the late of night, in the city,
And I’ve never felt so alone
As the big city slumbers and sleeps.
