Faced with unsurmountable odds

She knew it was time to pay the cost,

A full on charge that they may not survive

In this moment she never felt more alive,

Looking at her army, they were nervous and scared

But she gave an inspiring talk with heart fully bared,

They cheered and roared and we’re ready to tear

Into the enemy and be their worst nightmare,

Swords and spears pointing straight ahead

She charged first and rode at the edge,

Of her very being and with fire in her eyes

One of two sides will surely perish tonight,

And the battle field will run with blood with those who’ve died

She told her army this and they knew she never lied,

But she told them it’s about going down with dignity and pride

And at the end of the battle she lay with tears that she cried,

Critically injured her heart beat wild

Then above her stood a man who shook his head and sighed,

You and your army are so brave and came so close to winning this fight,

Then took out his sword and she just smiled

Knowing now she was about to die,

He pieced her heart and opened it wide

She gasped and grabbed the sword and closed her eyes,

Any chance of survival now denied.
