Forgiveness can’t be taken for granted

It’s only right to forgive

But it’s more difficult to forget,

And if forgiveness

Then becomes a default answer

Others will abuse it taking it for granted

After doing wrong to me and you

Saying that forgiving them is what we are expected to do.

  1. Good afternoon. You bring up a dilemma I used to encounter until I separated forgiveness from forgetting. We mustn’t forget because then we wouldn’t learn from life, but we are to behave as if we have forgotten and give the person a clean slate to start again, but you also apply what you learned; there’s a higher risk than you initially thought, and you must adjust. So it’s not holding a grudge or payback. It’s doing better. Cheers and thanks for the inspiration.

    1. Thanks very much for reading and for your comment. You are of course right. There are times when forgiveness is of course the right thing to do but in extreme cases I cannot see how it can be applied my friend 🙏 Faux
