A war of attrition

Life’s a war of attrition

And it’s wearing me down,

It’s a life of servitude

Scratching on the ground,

Trying to get by

And simply trying to exist,

It’s a struggle everyday

And may last until we exit,

We have our dreams

We have our hopes,

But when we’re being battered

And we flounder on the ropes,

It’s easier to accept the hit

And stay down on the canvas,

Then it is to get back up

Not knowing if we can withstand it,

It’s hard to stay with inspired

When you find it hard to cope,

I’ve never turned to alcohol

I have never turned to dope,

But I can understand why some do

To help them just get by,

In a world where there is enough to go around

I often questions why, why is it a struggle for others to survive,

While other live an ostentatious, luxurious life.
