Times are getting tougher

The fridge and freezers empty,

It’s not very satisfying

Hearing your kids saying they’re hungry,

Working all the hours

Yet it still doesn’t pay enough,

It’s no exaggeration to say

Times are getting tough,

Energy prices on the rise

Wages are staying low,

Hitting up on taxes

Wow! That’s a low blow,

Food is now so expensive

But I’ve no time to grow my own,

So don’t go telling me this isn’t so,

Because times are getting tougher

And yet there’s still a long way to go.
