Do we deny ourselves for others?

How many times do we attempt to be everything to everyone

While sacrificing who you truly are?

Why is it we try so hard to keep everybody else happy

Even though it may cost us finding true happiness within ourselves,

Is loving others so much more important than loving ourselves

Is that not a betrayal of our own reason for existential being.

  1. Actually, it’s not a silly question. Family “obligations” can drag you down. Family does not always deserve the sacrifice, having not put enough into the equation. It’s hard to not be weighed down by what we think is responsibility. I no longer have any and now I am free.

  2. Silly question, really. No man is an island, unfortunately although I would love to be one. But if you have a family, you are duty bound to do your bit, again and again… Impossible to be selfish in that set up.
