I wonder sometimes
Do you spend so much of your time,
Looking externally at life
That you forget to look at yourself within,
And that, that is the reason you misunderstand
That the life you get is the one you create,
That the people that you let influence your life
And that the dramas you embroil yourself in,
Ultimately dictate your happiness
I wonder if you understand the need,
To just cut yourself off from everybody and everything
So that you can focus on your own needs,
So that you can find within you your own inner peace
And that in doing this you can discover your true authenticity,
Realise your own wants and needs
And that in these moments you may perhaps realise,
That the happiness that you seek is not out there in the mad illusory world
But that it is within yourself, within your own conscious reality,
Where by when you look into the mirror
Instead of seeing yourself as how others want to see you
But that you see beyond that, so you see yourself,
As you really actually are, the real you from behind the masks
That you wear for others to satisfy them, knowing that they are false
And hiding the real beauty that is you.
