I walk in the forest and animals screeching
I look up at the trees so tall as they are reaching,
Up into the sky, I feel so small beneath them
I see deer, rabbits, foxes and a badgers den,
This is nature in it true wild and wonderful glory
All around you see the beauty and its story,
Ancient and eldritch it’s seen us come and go
I bet it hoardes so many secrets we would love to know,
Like what truths that lay below the bracken cover loamy floor
Hidden in layers of history that are no more,
Consumed mostly by the insects there that are so prevalent
A multitude of life rending decaying matter irrelevant,
I feel so humble here I feel so small and so meek
As I travel through its mysteries trying to find its answers that I seek,
As I study the concept and laws of forestry
Hidden below this verdant green canopy.
